Unrealistic Child Support Orders

What does it take to raise a child? Well, it takes a lot of things to raise a child. Some of those things include love, patience, energy, time, and money. It is difficult for some people to raise a child together, can you imagine how difficult it can be to raise a child alone?

Children deserve to have love and support from both parents. There is a system that enforces child support, and the system is supposed to ensure that the mother and the father adhere to their responsibilities as parents. Far too many times, the parent who does not have a large income will be failed by the system.

A huge reason why there is so much uncollected child support is because so many fathers do not have the means to pay what is owed. The fathers either have a small amount of income or no income at all.

When a father is handed a child support order that is completely unrealistic, no one will win in this situation. The father will not be able to pay what he is ordered to pay and the child will not receive the support that he or she needs.

When many fathers cannot pay their child support, they will have to spend time in jail. When he is sentenced to jail, the case will simply accumulate child support arrears. Again, no one will win in this situation because the father will still not be able to pay this money with no job.

Child support orders should be given with realistic expectations so the custodial parent and the non-custodial parent can both provide support for the child or children.
