Father's Rights: How to Put an End to Parenting Time Interference

When a relationship ends, it can sometimes be difficult to handle the situation in a friendly manner, even when children are involved. One common occurrence among newly split couples is known as parenting time interference.

What is Parenting Time Interference?

As laid out in the court ordered custody agreement, you and you ex share parenting time. One parent may have more time than the other, or there may be a 50/50 split. Whatever the split is, however, one parent may interfere with the other parent's time with their child.

There can be outright interference, where one parent disregards the custody agreement and doesn't hand over the child to the other parent at the court ordered time. There can be subtle interference, where one parent refuses to allow contact between the other parent and the child outside of parenting time. Parenting time interference can cause irreparable damage to you and your child's relationship, so it's important to fight for your rights immediately.

How Can You Fight Parenting Time Interference?

If you feel that your parenting time is being trampled by your ex, it's time to consult with a father's rights attorney.

As the father, you have just as much right to your child as their mother. This means that if your time is being interfered with, there is legal recourse that you can take. An experienced attorney will be able to walk you through the steps necessary to ensure that you get the parenting time that you and your child deserve. This may result in a court battle, or it may be settled with mediation -- whatever the case may be, your attorney will be able to provide you with the legal guidance you need.
